Jim......She is more than just an Appalachian singer, she is the Mother of the Appalachian Dulcimer AND the carrier of the "Ritchie Voice."   A large family that made serious music my friend and all blessed with that pure clarity you've just found. One of her sisters, Edna, did a recording for Folk Legacy that is a must have. Edna seemed to use her Dulcimer not so much for accompaniment but more for accent. Anytime anyone has mentioned that theydon't like the Appalachian Dulcimer for whatever reason, I force them to listen to Edna Ritchie.   She had a wonderful "take" on the instrument....I have no idea why.

Jean IS a treasure and I too would will her back to posting......Dang Jean, I wasn't even around much in the weeks surrounding Easter!!! Now c'mon back here!!!
