I was told that Sequim, Washington was considered a "Californicator Detector" for a time not too long ago. Mispronounce it, and you might not get served in some taps/bars (without someone to vouch for you).

The locals pronounce it "Skwim."

I think they selected it because even the locals can't agree on how some other places should be spoken.
