Subject: Lyr Add: DAYS LIKE THIS (Hilda Thomas)
The recent thread on the obituary of Phil Thomas reminded me of the last time I saw him. It was at Rainy Camp, early on Sunday morning (Feb. 2006). I walked into the lodge and Phil was in the little office space listening to a scratchy tape recording over and over. It was a home-made tape recording of Hilda singing this song. Phil was still grieving over Hilda's death the previous November. He then asked me if I could take the tape and clean it up and make a CD of it. This I did as best I could and returned it to him - he was quite grateful. This was of Hilda singing a very poignant song she had written. It talks about the seasons of life. I just listened to this again and thought it would be fitting to put on Mudcat. Also a tribute to Phil's recent passing.

Here is a mp3 of Hilda singing the last verse.

DAYS LIKE THIS - Hilda Thomas

Days like this remind me of my childhood
Sun was always climbing in the sky
Clear water over stones was always flowing
Time stood still as we went running by.

Other times remind me of my young love
Days as green and tender as the grass
When we lay together in the meadow
We believed the times would never pass.

Then there came the stormy days of autumn
Days that had no reason and no rhyme
Vanish dreams like leaves upon the sidewalk
Blowing in the chilly winds of time.

So the seasons change with our life's turning
Snow falls down like music in the night
And wrapped within the warm cocoon of winter
Now we know that time must have its flight.
