I believe the McGowan Brothers and The Fabulous Farquahr had roots in and around the Branford, CT. area. Serious, skilled musicians, but they didn't take themselves as seriously as some. There was an element of fun and joy incorporated in their performances that brightened an evening in a bar-room atmosphere.

They were entertaining in the Mt. Snow, VT. area in the late sixties. Had a following in several areas of New England.

One song, "The Provincetown Jug and Marching Band" may have spawned or inspired the group by that name that played at the P-Town Surf Club for thirty years or more; and may still be warbling on occasion.

Both groups were dynamic and added many laughs to an evening, often at their own expense.
