Thanks, ranger1 and Granny Sorcha...indeed she will be there for him. She is not the one that went walkabout, she's too smart and old to leave behind a great meal ticket. She's the housemate's dog and the one who is teaching the youngsters how to behave.

Just heard from the vet. No poisons, no infections, although they said not all of them will show up on a blood test, so they are treating for inflammation with prednisone and antibiotic. I am giving thanks that that is it and she will be much improved in a day or two. This or something better for the highest good of all concerned.
