Somewhere east of Blind River a lone and unkempt figure makes his lonely way down the side of the highway. Scorned by passing motorists who ignore his raised thumb or else return the gesture with an upraised middle finger, he trudges wearily on. The sky is darkening with gathering rain clouds, and a bitter wind creeps in around the collar of his lumberjack jacket.
