No - there's a difference between putting a positive spin on something, etc., and out-and-out lying. Furthermore, it is a general understanding that a limited amount of minor "fudging" on a cv is pardonable; by the same token, it's clearly understood that lying about something on the magnitude of what degrees you've earned is not. By way of analogy - in this part of the world, it is generally understood that driving a few kilometres per hour over the speed limit is not a serious infringement of the law - but you will get no sympathy if you are fined for driving 100 km per hr over the posted limit.
