Seeing a posting from a Harley reminded me that I had looked up a song called Harley for a man of that name I met at a Washington Getaway (I think it was) a couple of years ago, who never emailed me to get them. So here it is for Harley and anyone else who would like it.

HARLEY
(Don Henry)

There was a motorcycle Momma & her man,
With a windburned tan & a Harley
Roarin' through Bakersfield when her water broke,
They pulled into a hospital & for a little joke

    They named him Harley
    They bought a sidecar
    And a small bandana band
    And they love their Harley.

Slidin' sideways up the coast crusin' Highway One
The sidecar came undone, ... no one noticed
Thrashin' through a golden meadow it came to rest
right where a farmer's wife cried...
"Jesus Christ has answered all our prayers"
    And they called him Harley
    Because of a taytoo
That said his name was true
    And they love their Harley.

He was raised upon a farm Cradled in the arms Of Beulah and Barney
But at a restless age They unlocked his cage And he became a carney.
There was a motorcycle daredevil deluxe
Jumpin' 50 trucks at the fairgrounds

A middleaged hippie couple way up in the stands
Heard the crowd, chanting loud, the name of this young man
And they called him Harley And that hippie couple smiled
Could this be their long lost child?
    So they met Harley,
    Convinced him of the news
    As they compared tattoos
    And they love their Harley.

The song was written by Don Henry and is on his album "Wild in the Backyard".
