These books are gathered and burned by a group called People Demonstrating A Love Of Literature And Good Taste (PDALOLAGT). Three copies (one autographed!) escaped: one is in the Extremely Controlled Room at the Library of Congress and is kept in a locked and armored box inside a heavy safe (which is welded shut) inside a vault inside a solid 2,000 kg. cube of concrete; the autographed copy is in the Secret and Condemned Archives of the Vatican Library, and it will be burned when the air pollution laws permit; and the last remaining copy is in the Rare Book Collection at the Miskatonic University Library.

From time to time books show up on the market purporting to be copies of these works but they are found to be something else: the US Budget, "Dick and Jane Visit Grandmother", and, most lately, an unillustrated copy of the "Kama Sutra" with all the naughty bits blacked out.
