It's not fair, I know, but the image of "Country" among a lot of UK folkies, is that it is all about cod religious homilies and poor orphan boys (if possible with their one eyed, three legged dogs) being pursued by drunken fathers and getting lifts from big hearted truckers. If we are honest, we know damned well that there are plenty of excellent writers and players in country music. The image persists though and we find it hilarious!
