Taking all of the first-party statements at face value (and including the hospital's spokesperson among these), it sounds as though John Mellencamp (who I've never heard of, but that's not relevant) or his agents may not have given the Walter Reed people as much advance notice as they gave Ms. Baez. It's always easier to say "no" than to make major changes in plans.
