Thread Name: BS: Boxing (Fights) Question
Subject: RE: BS: Boxing (Fights) Question
I undewrstand it was a split decision, without the drama as billed. Scores were 116-112, 115-113 Mayweather, 115-113 De La Hoya.

Reports were that it was close enough to justify a debate as to who won. I understand that it was a competitive fight but short of the pre-fight hype.

After, De La Hoya said he landed the harder and crisper punches. Mayweather said De La Hoya threw a lot of punches but they dinn't land. It seems the fighters traded punches to end the fight (.My recollection, is Mayweather had the best landed punch stats).

The crowd seemed to feel De La Hoya won.. Most (but not all) of the the boxing reporters seemed to see the fight favouring Mayweather.

If one of them does not retire first, a rematch is likely to occur. The $ and pride is still there.
