Joe Calzaghe is a Super Middle Weight I believe. There would be no shortage of funds for some of the American Icons to step into another arena. I think the Peter Manfredo Junior fiasco was a bit of an insult to Joe Calzaghe and honestly believe that the North American Fighters have lost credibility out of it. That's the second scout that's been sent over there and neither has fared well.
There is the perception that the belt holders in America will not take on serious competition for fear of losing stature and with that, money.
Point to note: Manfredo's next opponent has a 19-10-2, 9 KOs record. Those 10 losses are what you look for when your man is trying to regain his stature. His opponent knows how to lose.
I for one would have far more respect for any fighter who loses to a better man on the day than I would any champion who cherry picks his competition and wins.
