If you mean the Ten Commandments, strinsinger...I don't see any harm in taking most of them seriously since most of them fall pretty much in line with our normal ideas of good social morality, whether or not we believe in "God" or belong to some organized religion.

Here are some of the alternatives to the 10 Commandments, in fact (but not in the same order):

1. Dishonor your parents. Show them no respect.

2. Kill people.

3. Rob people.

4. Worship a large variety of deities, and play favorites among them.

5. Construct idols, and worship them too.

6. Commit adultery whenever and wherever the opportunity presents itself.

7. Tell lies. Do not be truthful.

8. If you've decided that there is a God, give only a paltry measure of your love and respect to that God, and have other gods and idols that you give a good deal more of your love and respect to.

9. Furthermore, use the name of God in all sorts of spurious and vain ways whenever it seems momentarily advantageous.

10. If you've decided on a holy day, when it comes around do all sorts of things to defile it.

11. Covet everything your neighbour has...his house, his car, his job, his wife, his haircut, his dog, his reputation, you name it. Covet till you turn green! And remember that the other commandments (2 & 3 above) give you the right to kill your neighbour and steal the things he has which you covet!


Wow. What a system! And you get 11 instead of 10. Bonus! "This one goes to eleven..."


Sounds like a perfect set of rules for a complete moron and social degenerate, doesn't it? ;-D
