Bob, you're right--- nearly every cut is turned up to '11' (mixed
metaphor, that).

In terms of better renditions:

I don't think that there is any 'better rendition' of John Henry
anywhere, by anyone.

Some renditions of 'Oh Mary Don't You Weep' are probably equal
(I'm thinking maybe Preservation Hall Jazz Band, or Trini Lopez)
but none are better.

That's pretty good for a single album/CD.
