Subject: RE: Skarpi in Holland ......................
Hi Skarpi, I don't know you and am just a guest and lurker here, but I've loved visiting Iceland and loved living in Holland for three years, so I decided to write. Hope you have a great time over there. NL is actually a great country to get interested in Flamenco in--there are lots of classes and performances and I think that Rotterdam conservatory is one of the only places outside Spain with Flamenco guitar teaching. (There's probably more flamenco performances in Holland in a month or two than in Yorkshire in a year.) If you are there next year in April, try to see the Utrecht outdoor blues festival, or if you get into Dutch music, the 'smartlappen festival' which are some kind of Dutch sad songs. Just about every city has an Irish pub....
Sorry to write so much and not give you any tips on anglo-american folk music--my own real passion for it postdates my time in NL.Have a koffie verkeerd or a witbiertje for me and best wishes!
