When my uncle returned from WW2, he amused himself by teaching
the budgie to say "Go shit in yer 'at." That happened to be
perhaps his favorite phrase, finished off with "I'll take the
blame."

One day, his mother, my grandmother, had 'Auntie Veron' over for
supper. Now Auntie Veron was a rather proper English lady from
Manchester, emigrated as did most of her siblings, to Southern
California.

The bird spoke his phrase.

"Mary, did yon boodgie just say 'Go shit in yer 'at?'"

"Why yes, Veron, I believe he did."

Apparently it was all Grandma could do to conceal her mortification.
