Thread Name: Shanty/Forebitter session for May (NH)
Subject: RE: Shanty/Forebitter session for May (NH)
The shanty/forebitter session was well attended, with about 20 singers in the circle. Maggie (from the Johnson Girls) and her husband Mark were there as an extra special treat. About half a dozen of the Gloucester gang led songs. Rich Gato from Kennebunk helped represent Maine, along with JudyB and myself. New Hampshire denziens included Tom and Linn, Carol, Steve, Mark, and Barry. Who am I leaving out?

JudyB led several rounds of Roll the Old Chariot, with reference to the beer ads on the walls, and she did a great job with C. Fox Smith's A Parting (old ship song) with folks providing some nice harmonies. I led Outward Bound by Bill Adams, Lee Fore Brace by C. Fox Smith, Tasman Buster by Bob Watson, and Mid-Watches by Burt Franklin Jenness. Jenness and Adams are best described as old sailor-poets from the early 1900's whose poems I've been recently adapting for singing.

Thanks again to Tom and Linn for coordinating the Press Room sessions.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble
