my Sister-in-law is a nurse & used to work in emergency & gave us graphic descriptions of broken skulls & brains spilling out!

We have had compulsary wearing of helmets for decades.

I read somewhere that skin breaks as soon as it hits the ground, denim a metre or 2 after impact, & leathers last something like 100 metres, & always think of this when I see the summer idiots in tiny little shorts & singlets, with half or full helmets.

Sometime in the 80's the motorcycle idiots got an easing of the law that required them to wear helmets. I can't remember what the exemption was, & I dunno if that was changed, but we still see occasional bare heads. Maybe some of these folks win Darwin awards!!
