LH-- Ake was talking about UK Communists being "conservative".   Hence the question about evidence--for UK Communists.

I'm aware of USSR history.   It depends on period of time you are talking about. In 1917 , I suspect neither the Kerensky government nor the Czarists would have considered the Communists conservative.


Point is not very unfamiliar--the danger of generalization.
