Tarheel linked to an Associated Press story about Cindy Sheehan's disillusionment with the politics on both sides of the Iraq War issue. I think this excerpt sums it up:

When she had first taken on Bush, Sheehan was a darling of the liberal left. "However, when I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to erode and the 'left' started labeling me with the same slurs that the right used," she wrote.

"I guess no one paid attention to me when I said that the issue of peace and people dying for no reason is not a matter of 'right or left', but 'right and wrong,'" the diary says.

When people put ideology and "winning at all costs" ahead of true peace, that's where we get into trouble. And yes, there are many aggressive, combative members of the so-called "Peace Movement" who have no idea what peace is - they just want to make sure their side wins and destroys "the enemy." A lot of Mudcatters can be like that, too.
