I recently acquired a new friend who was obsessed (and I do mean OBSESSED) with text messaging. For a few weeks we messaged back and forth, and it drove me utterly crazy (the predictive text was just obnoxiously useless, and having to press each key a certain number of times frustrating). Regardless, as irritated as I was, I could neither bring myself to write shortened sentences or to abbreviate in the fashion discussed above (other than the occasional LOL). I may be the first person ever to actually use the words "tribulations" and "accordingly" in a text message *rolling eyes*.
