I'd go with Saving Grace too - watched it when I couldn't sleep the night after I heard Ian was killed. Thankfully I shan't be reduced to doing what Grace did...I haven't got room for the greenhouse!

Also, L'Atalante by Jean Vigo (1931). Watched it for film studies at college in 1971. Simple plot line, lots of imagery and an early subtitled talkie. It's one for cuddling up with a mug of something hot on a rainy afternoon. I managed to get it on video a few years ago.
