This afternoon I got a little more painting in the eaves done. I came down off my ladder and found myself face to face, about three feet away, with a rattlesnake. Most unusual. I behaded it with a shovel and cleaned up the bloodstains and put it in the trash. It was young -- only 1 1/2 spheres on his rattle -- a Western Diamondback, I think. Anyway, I hope Buddha will forgive me, but I couldn't bring myself to capture it by the neck and throw it into a neighbor's yard. Wouldn't a'been neighborly, like...
