I skimmed through a lot of this thread but some really interesting posts. I'm doing a beginner's sound tech course at the moment and have only a basic grasp of using compression so am not able to join the discussion, properly, but good to hear the comments from those who have experience/knowledge of the technical side of music production. A year ago I wouldn't have had a clue but it has cheered me up to realise I have actually remembered a few things and collected SOME understanding at my night class.
