[Thread creep warning:] In my wife's family there is a saying: "as daft as your Uncle Horace". I never met him (her grandfather's brother) but apparently he was once found by the outside drain where the pipe from the bathroom came out, holding a colander under the spout. When asked what he was doing he replied that his wife (who was notoriously skinny) was taking a bath and he was getting ready to catch her! I don't know how long he had been waiting for someone to see him and ask him! [And you think I go to great lengths to work a joke in!].
