I once had a geology professor who told us of a trip to the Smithsonian, where the attendees were offered the opportunity to taste meat from a mammoth recently recovered from Siberian ice. He declined, but said that those that partook all became deathly ill with the "mammoth two-step." For that reason, I decline the picks - they probably harbor pathogens unknown to modern science.
