Thread Name: Lyr Req: In Madrid There Stands A Palace
Subject: Lyr Req: In Madrid There Stands A Palace
My sister and I are trying to find the words for a song she remembers from grade school. I've searched here at Mudcat Cafe and on the web but come up empty. I believe it may be from the Silver Burdett World of Music series but we only remember the first verse and not the title of the song. The verse goes something like this:
In Madrid there stands a palace Made of tinsel so they tell And inside it dwells a lady By the name of Isabell.
I came to the conclusion that it may be from World of Music because we both remember fondly "Don Gato" which I understand was popularized by the same series. I've looked on the thread about the World of Music Series and checked the indices provided there, but since I don't know the title of the song, it wasn't of much use. Of course, I may be totally off base and our school system may have used a different set of books. Other songs I remember from our old grade school music text books include "The Skye Boat Song", "I've Got Sixpence", and "Charlie Is My Darlin'." (Yes, our teacher was Scottish by heritage.)
My sister likes to sing this song about the palace made of tinsel to her new daughter and more verses would be nice to have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
