(I dont have it anymore, but my first car was my dads beatup 72 cortina station wagon). It was also easy enough to work on my own.
But handy, I remember going to a lumberyard and putting in a couple of sheets of 4x8 plywood. Just as I was going to put it in the guy at the lumber yard chuckled and said.. theres no way that youll fit those in..
After I easily put them in, he said thats a handy little car.

In Czechoslovakia, our first car was a used little fiat 600..
(it took years of saving to get a car).. We did a lot of touring when I was a kid, and sometimes stopped by a lake or pond and used the water to
wash the car.. This proved to be a bad idea in Yugoslavia, when we stopped by the ocean (for the first time) and decided to wash the car.
after that my dad had a hard time opening the doors..
He ended up giving it away to the family that we stayed with in Rijeka.
