Subject: Tech: Struggling with Nero
Well, in the process of building the new PC for Linux, I noticed that there were some 'new' DVD burners on sale at $50. So I got one, and one also to upgrade my Win98 box.
Physical hardware great!
But when I tried to load the Nero Disk the Catch 22's hit...
The files on the CD ware dated Sept 2006. Seems to be nero V6.
The disk gives an error when trying to self start that 'files are missing'....
Trying to load the Sw gives an error "aacenc32.dll access denied" ... funny that is not on the CD, or even on my system...
Searching the net reveals SW that will load that codec, but that will not load until Nero has been loaded....
There are also several versions of that codec out there too...
Some of the found SW will not load on 98 either... eg the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 2.20 tells me that I need V1.7 for 98SE, but I can;t find that on the net... links in foreign languages point to the company web page - but that has now been updated to V2.2 and they don't seem to have a V1.7 available...
BTW the drive is a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182F works great as a reader...
So do I just bung a version of the aacenc32.dll in WIN/SYSTEM and hope for the best?
