Is that pronounced "Bann-ish the Dann-ish" or "Bain-ish the Dain-ish", Giok? he asked dis-Dane-fully.

I'll go back and re-read Dashiell Hammett's "The Dane Curse" and see if I can find any more historical data on all this.....
