Lightscribe software is a space hog, and dampens other features that might work with the DVD burner. I had difficulties getting my burner to write for a while and finally realized it was the software. I'd intended to upgrade my computer anyway, so I put in another DVD burner, (Pioneer) and it intentionally didn't come with Lightscribe. It plays much nicer with the rest of my software.
