There are many of you who are enjoying taking the piss on this subject without a thought for the 30+% of us that this will affect straight away, it will make some changes NOT FOR THE BETTER for the rest of you.
This will change my life radically, my only Fun thing in life is to be chair of the Old Mill Hall in Grove (known to some of you as the venue for Folkforms) I have held the position for 11 years, incidentally no one else steps forward at election time! The hall is like a large village hall & last year held 1335 bookings! with several venues in use many time a day. I meet with the hall manager, sec, & caretaker for approx 1 hour every Monday & every Friday, to sign staff cheques, find out "What happened" at the weekend etc.
I have reluctantly had to resign as the meetings are in the pub. Of course holding the position has been good for Folk for ms.
I have been involved with the local cubs & scouts since my 2 where beavers, so ten years or so, I get involved with teaching & looking after the hut (a venue known to some of you as a singaround venue for white horse folk festival), I have resigned as the meetings are in the pub!
I can't sing, I can't play anything, I can't dance, so I can always be located on the edge of events, for instance, Chippenham Fest (24 years!) I can be located in the open space next to the sing room, from here on in I will have to be outside - what is the point of that, so why go, so why run a charity, why bother to run a festival!
The whole of my life may well change, I mmay leave folk music & charity behind me.
