IMO the new art takes the "comic" out of Archie Comics. They don't look like cartoon characters anymore, so I find them less amusing. Wonder what the other characters will look like: will the boys be beefcakes? Will Archie finally shed the letter sweater? Will Jughead lose the hat, and perhaps even the un-P.C. name?

I suppose the "longer serialized stories" that the site mentions will be less like their old extended comic strips (several per comic book), and more like a Marvel Comics story that takes up an entire comic book and prefaces the next book and so on. A tried-and-true way to get kids to buy future issues... IF the new characterizations catch on. That's a big "if".

Next thing you know, the girls will acquire superpowers: Betty will sprout metal wings with rockets on the tips, and Veronica will spout fire from her mouth and beam a freeze ray from her eyes... oh, wait, doesn't she do that already?
