I've always hated smoke and have walked out of pubs before now because you could almost cut the smoke in there. Now I'm even more anti-smoke. I spent last Christmas in hospital (got taken in on Christmas Day) and spent 3 days on oxygen. Investigation showed that I now suffer from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). When I finally convinced the medics that I had been a lifelong no-smoker and hadn't worked in the local mines, they came to the conclusion that I had it because I had lived for years with a heavy smoker. What price marriage? Broken lungs.
