It did rain a lot here recently, and the water got so deep that right here in Kansas, 'bout a thousand miles from the nearest ocean, we done got ourselves a tanker oil spill to deal with.

It seems that when the water came up around a fairly major "regional" refinery, the power failed, the pumps stopped, and some oil that was being transferred sorta went t'other way right out into the water.

About 42,000 gallons (estimated) loose in the town. Naturally, it's that black crude stuff that makes a real mess.

Other than "we're examining the situation" the only comment from the oil guys has been "Boy howdy y'all, I bet gasoline prices are gonna go up fer a few months."

Anybody got a few old rags handy? They're gonna hafta do some serious moppin' up.
