Subject: RE: BS: Ralph page fiddle tapes FREE!
Hey, Maeve or Kat, let me know if it is possible to have a copy
thanks to Skippy!

by the way many lists that i am on offer "vines" and "trees"
where recordings are passed along....not too practical in the
tape media, but digital recordings of music, especially live
recordings which are not available commercially, are often
traded on line. The usual "rules" are that you might be asked
to send blanks and postage to the person who has the original,
(Blanks and Postage is often shortened to "B&P" on these lists)
and often also offer copies to others once you receive them.
The fact that tape recordings de-grade with each "generation"
makes this not applicable in this case, but perhaps we could
consider starting this as a practice via MUDCAT and create a
perma thread for this ?? Only possible with the permission of
the artist....some performers allow and encourage "tapers" or
even provide a location in the audience to facilitate this.
Some artists and audio engineers allow folks to take recordings
off of the sound board to get the best "resolution" (i guess that
is a term that applies to photography and images, but here apply
to audio use) see: http://www.mcnichol.com/bnp/ for background
info on this practice as applied to Greatful Dead. Other bands
and performers also have tape trees with each member being a branch
such as Phish, Greg Brown and many others. "Some are called "vines")
