Sonnets to Katie Elizabeth (6-10 of 173)

Sonnet 29/08/01                        DLXXIII

How can I catch your dreams, when I desire
To follow where they lead? My heart must know
It dare not capture shadow of the fire
That I see in your words. Can my lines show
How dear I hold your smile? Heart will be held
On far too short a chain to be lost, yet
I risk falling. Heat of desires might weld
My passions to my poems. But, can I let
Even a chance of muse escape? I find
I care about your smile, though have no right
To ask for more. My visions are still blind
To what they ask: In muse I find my light.
Though I cannot touch hand, nor cheek, nor lip
Perhaps my verse might into your dreams slip.

Sonnet 31/8/01                                DLXXIV

I wish that I was close enough to see
Into your eyes, and kiss your neck, and feel
The heat within your breath. I cannot flee
From dreams that thoughts of your sweet words reveal.
I wish that I held you within my arms,
Safe from the storm, and offered you the taste
Of ripe strawberries. Shall heart see alarms
In parallels to past? I have fears faced.
I wish that I might know how to bring smile,
To ease endeavors, and to show I care.
I'm too distant to send more than words, while
I long to send my heart, and my dreams share.
All that I wish may be my own desires:
Might you yet offer hope for future fires?

Sonnet 03/9/01                                DLXXVI

Might you yet offer hope for future fires,
That my dreams would a clearer vision see?
Or will you of our conversations tire,
And seek to only of my verse be free?
Will you be kind, and smile, and offer chance
To share your thoughts? I cannot your heart claim,
Nor give what I desire. Years hold romance
At distance; Yet, I can't emotions tame.
Can you now understand how deep words reach
To heart and dreams? Do you realize how sweet
Thought of your smile becomes? Might I beseech
Some token, to my heart's desire complete?
I cannot alter hope, nor age repair:
Are words and dreams to be all that we share?

Sonnet 4/9/01                                DLXXVII

Are words and dreams to be all that we share
Without hope for my heart's desires? I hold
To each sweet word, and pray that dreams might dare
What age does not allow, to heart enfold.
Can I imagine hugging you, and think
That I would let you go? You kiss my cheek,
And heart is chained to dreams. Hope forms each link,
Now forged within the passion's fire I seek.
Too far to hold, but not to far to reach
Within my dreams: You capture heart as thrall.
How can I show what your sweet touches teach,
Or how your written words to my dreams call?
Your words have a power greater than mine:
With one sweet word, my heart and soul are thine.

Sonnet 5/9/01                                DLXXVIII

With one sweet word, my heart and soul are thine
To do with what you wish. For your soft kiss
I give all my dreams, that I might refine
A purer vision of passion and bliss.
With one sweet smile, you restore to verse hope
That Muse still offers gift. My dreams still flow
Onto the page: Thoughts of you are the scope
Of visions that in my dreams focus show.
With one sweet thought, you lift my spirit, to
See hope beyond the clouds. You are my sun,
Giving me light: My verse reflects a view
That I rejoice in, that I've kisses won.
How can I tell you how much your note heals,
While heart's desire to thought of your smile seals?
