Sonnet 06/10/05                                        MXXV

Shall I ask now for reasons you might smile,
Making the night worth remaining awake?
Would you reply? Can I dream of you, while
Desires hide from speech for fear of mistake?
Shall I longing for touch deny, or state
I would not kiss pursue? I will not lie:
That dreams excite gives reason to stay late,
And sight of you reasons for dream supply.
Shall I pretend I even have a choice,
To flash of eyes ignore? You focus thought
Upon desire: Smile gives cause to rejoice,
And hope, even in vain, is what dreams sought.
Might I imagine that you smile for me?
How can I not want all of dreams to be?
