In the unique lexicon of my family, doofus is always a noun. It is the word you use to call your sister or cousin a dumb ass while avoiding getting your mouth washed out with soap by your great aunt.

Douflous is used to mean lazy and no-count. My ne'er do well uncle was often described as a douflous doofus. (I may have inherited some of the same traits:?)
