Richard - you're right. Some of these sanitisers can be quite powerful and by stripping the skin of its natural coatings and defences, will make any skin condition worse. I'm sure you'll know that continuous washing makes it worse anyway, even with ordinary soap; imagine the damage a harsh de-greasing agent does when applied several times a day.

Once upon a time we had 4 main cleaning products - for floors and surfaces, toilets, dishes and for clothes. Now, in my bathroom alone there are 7 different cleansing products (that's including the washing machine but not the bathing products - those are legion).

There's even a spray for removing dirt left by soap.
