Sonnet 03/11/05                                        MXXVIII

Might you teach me how to find words to say,
That tell what seeing your smile gives to me?
Sight of your elven eyes takes breath away:
Thought of you gives heart chance for hope to be.
I dream, but dare not hold you: Should I plead
That you be more than beauty seen afar?
What might I offer that would your dreams feed,
Or give reason you'd join me under star?
It does not matter what I wish were real:
Heart cannot alter what has been, nor find
The path to future I desire, nor steal
What is not offered. Should my dreams be blind?
I am a fool, to dream, when you remain
Only desire heart cannot hope to gain.
