I use an excel workbook for information that I want to precisely timestamp.
ctrl + ; places current date in one column ctrl + shift + ; places current time in next column text goes in third column
When using excel remember: Excel cell will hold up to 64K characters but only display first 1024
I use notepad for storing lots of unformatted text that does not need to be precisely timestamped. Word and the like are overkill.
