We are indeed a new site. We started in September 2006. Our US listings have taken a life of their own (we have over 400 recurring sessions and 100 or so festivals and about half again as many workshops. Many are now in the past and won't appear on the site until they are updated for next year). The UK listings are minimal.

Pilgrim: "Still, best of luck to Scott. He can only put on information that is given to him, after all."

Very true! I'll clarify something here though. You don't give the information to me. You sign up and post it directly and have editorial rights to the post for as long as you leave it up on the site. For us this is a huge differentiator over nearly every other jam sharing site we've ever used. It is not 'our list'. We built a platform for you and your lists. Our goal is keeping the information valid.

Some back-end stuff you don't see is validation. About twice a year folkjam.org automatically follows up on jam session postings asking the submitter to verify the information. If the person who posted the content does not respond, we ask again about a month later, then again a month after that and then pull the listing from the site. You won't find information on the site that is years out of date. Although given our age, that's true right now anyway. :)

Thanks for asking questions and prodding me now and again with slightly harder ones.
