Sonnet 22/11/05                               MXXXIII

The distant stars only cold comfort bring,
That beauty beyond reach might share. Dreams try
To find desired smile, or voice to sing,
Yet this is season when all of dreams die.
Heart cannot hold to hope, but must it ache
For lost dreams of what could not be? Dreams fail
To fill heart's need, yet should they, for the sake
Of but one's desire? Must hope tears entail?
Dare soul look for the reason darkness falls
On dream, desires, and hope? Is it just chance,
Or fate, that longing for love always calls
Forth darkness, when heart seeks only romance?
Where should heart search, for chance of it's desire?
Is there no hope in those who verse inspire?
