Bee, I just met one of them! Lady here in town has an old one who goes to her shop with her everyday. Neat dog.

Bobert, McNabs do NOT have the less desirable border collie traits and technically they are not border collies. My Merls is ready to go at the drop of a hat, BUT he will also lie around the house, quietly all day unless a stranger comes to the door or in the yard. Things we love about him is his medium size, his quietness, his high intelligence (only have to show him ONCE what a command means and he's got it, and his loyalty. He will even stop in mid-pee if we call him. (No, we don't so that to him all the time!**bg**) He also will NOT bark when all of the neighbour dogs are going ape; in fact he is a bit disdainful about them..as HE is too intelligent to bark for no reason, doncha know?:-)He also will not leave our side unless given permission.

Dave Swan's right...it comes down to the relationship a dog has with humans which will determine how the act. We got a pound mix, a half-Dobie, half-Shepherd who was a big galoot. All the kids loved him dearly, but he would run around all over if he got loose. We still loved him, though, and he sang and could say, "I WUFF OOO." He did that to us every time we left him behind and closed the door!

Good luck,

kat
