Note: The Getaway sorta became the first, and best known, semi-official gathering because of its history and proximity to Mudcat Central (Max's place) in Pennsylvania. Some of the founding members of Mudcat had been attending the Getaway as a regular event of FSGW for 20-30 years, and there are a lot of 'folkies' on the East coast of the US....and it is the easiest place in the US for the UK members to get to.

I am glad that other gatherings have sprung up due to Mudcatters wanting to meet, but unable to get to the USA east coast.....but I am VERY glad I am fortunate enough to live close and have the chance to meet so many good folks I 'know' before they arrive.
