We had a terrier mix when we were growing up. Best guard dog/kid dog I've ever known. Did run off a bit and would have driven mom nuts at home, so dad took him to the oilfields with him where he was a great hit chasing rabbits. He was mosly fox terrier. My dad had a jack russeel or as he called her "Jackie O" russell and she was loyal and all, but i found her too yappy. The stables where my dau. worked had a male JR and he was the cat's meow! Got along great with kids, snooty clients, cats, dog and the horses, was hell on paws for the rats. He was very proud of his ratcatching abilities and a great all round little dog. Terriers do NOT know they are small!
