Thread Name: BBC Radio York-30 min folk/acoustic
Subject: BBC Radio York-30 min folk/acoustic
I have just heard that BBC Radio York is to introduce 30 min. per week of 'folk and acoustic'. An improvement over nothing, but I'm waiting to see whether this sort of time and mixture can actually fulfiil the BBC remit so aptly quoted by FolkieDave in another thread. Below is part of a message about it from Sarah.Drummond@bbc.co.uk. Strike while the iron is hot--if you have views, suggestions etc., please send them to Sarah.Drummond@bbc.co.uk or sandie.dunleavy@bbc.co.uk
quoted message: "At BBC Radio York we have started a new Monday night show now presented by Sandie Dunleavy, and we're introducing a half-hour folk and acoustic music sequence in it from 8.30pm next week.
We're putting more preparation time into the new show than we managed to do in April after Michael left.
Sandie will look at music and listings, and we'll have the sequence available on listen-again (though the general listen-again facility has been experiencing some problems recently, so fingers crossed it will be fixed for Monday"
