Miskin Man, where did you get the school din-dins one from? I remember being taught it in the late fifties by someone in Folkestone who had learned it from a neighbour at a Secondary School in Park Farm Road (maroon uniform) who claimed that was where it was composed.
As
Say what you will, school dinners make you ill,
And Davy Crockett died of shepherd's pie,
All school din-dins come from pig bins,
Why, O why?
We used to see the pigbins collected! We tried to extend the verses, but failed.
At a different school, we composed...
We'll make a bonfire of St Stephens
And we'll burn our cares away,
Stack it up with all our homework,
And keep it burning all the night and all the day.
We'll make a guy fawkes of Miss _ _,
And Miss _ _ _ likewise.....
Can't remember how we ended it. Names obscured to protect - well, one of the two was strict but a good educator.
